Plantation

Multilayer crop

Finca Los Conejos is being developed under a concept of several layers of vegetable and animal crops. Three plant layers (pine forest, coffee plantation and ground cover) and two animal layers (bees and goats/chickens) have been defined.

The concept of Multilayer Agricultural Crop allows to improve the overall productivity of the farm.

Coffee Lots

GPS use

Finca Los Conejos, 8 coffee lots and the hull of the farm were defined. Each lot of coffee will have a specific variety of coffee planted.

Soil Chemical Analysis

Satellite Study

A satellite analysis was carried out in Chile, through which macro and micronutrients were determined to carry out soil amendments and fertilizer application.

Terraces

The plantation was traced according to the contour lines of the terrain, and terraces were made to avoid erosion and better manage moisture and nutrients.

Varieties of Coffee

Finca Los Conejos competes with Specialty Coffees and High Quality Innovative Processes from anaerobic fermentations, with 4 varieties selected for their cup quality: Red Geisha, Yellow Bourbon, Red Pacamara, and Red Mundo Novo.

Seedlings

With the aim of maintaining the quality and purity of the plantation varieties, our own nurseries are made with selected seeds, to guarantee the quality of the coffee tree.

Planting and Ecosystem

The plantation is designed to be planted and pruned by sub-lots of 25% of each variety. This allows to standardize the application of fertilizers, irrigation and, above all, to maintain a constant production.

The holes for planting are made one year before planting and a chemical study of the soil is defined by the satellite so that we can apply any lacking substances to the soil prior to plantation. Additionally, coffee pulp in the process of decomposition has been applied to it for 2-3 years.

The distances are 2.5 meters from the street and 1.1 meters between each plant, which allows good lighting and ventilation.

Nutrition

In order to maintain the nutrition of the coffee tree and prevent pests, preventive work is done, with elements such as Copper, Surround, Foliar Fertilizers and Soil Fertilizers.
